A Beautiful Partnership

The following is an excerpt from the newsletter that will be out in a few days:

Next month we will be sending eight men on what will be our fifth Journey to Ghana.  It is truly amazing to see how God has worked through this ministry.  We have run soccer camps, a health clinic, and a Bible school.  We have built a church, delivered school supplies, purchased and passed out over one hundred mosquito nets and been part of a large gathering of pastors. We have been fostered communication with pen-pals, provided a scholarship for a struggling student and supplied an orphanage with 2,000 chickens to begin a poultry farm.  Through it all, we’ve been blessed to see God’s hand at work.

One of the most beautiful aspects of this ministry has been in the relationships we’ve developed while in the country.  We have become friends with John Mensa, a minister in Accra who leads a struggling Bible school. The children at Countryside Orphanage know the people of the Two Pennies Ministry and have seen the faces return repeatedly.  We have a fantastic representative, Aboagye Prah, who makes all the necessary arrangements for each one of our Journeys.  Ebenezer and Comfort, who lead the Love and Care Foundation, contact us often through email about how things are going. We can honestly say that this is a partnership, and we are extremely humbled that God has chosen us to play a role.

Please keep this group of men in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to leave on March 21st. They have three goals for this trip. First, they need to erect the walls for the new Love and Care Foundation building. Right now, we are in discussions with a team of workers to dig the foundation and pour the floor. This needs to be done before we get there.  A second group will be meeting with a group of pastors and leading a conference. On our November Journey, John Mensa (pictured right) assembled a group of over 50 pastors in less than a week to meet with Greg, Dan and Moses. He has asked for a four day conference to help train pastors.  Pray for Lynn Schertz and Greg as they plan the organization for that. A third team will be visiting the children at the two orphanages where we’ve built relationships. It is wonderful to see how excited the children are to get some special attention. We have found that just a little bit of time makes an enormous difference.  In the upcoming days and weeks we’ll continue to update you as to how you can be a part of this awesome mission.
