A Two Pennies Journey is a unique experience, designed to help individuals use their gifts as an encouragement and blessing to others. Journeys typically last 10 days and teams spend nearly the entire trip in direct contact with our local partners. Trips are planned six to nine months ahead of time and applications are generally available beginning in October. Journey participants are selected in January and are required to attend the five training sessions in January-March. For the 2020 calendar year, we are planning two Journeys, one in March and another in June.
Our March Journey in 2020 will be focused in the Eastern Region of Ghana where we will be overseeing the beginning of a Cassava Mill. Participants will work with farmers in their fields, help with the construction of a structure to start the mill and be meeting with local leaders to help assess the challenges that locals face in the village of Akim Kwameng.
Our June Journey will be focused on the Central Region of Ghana and participants will be spending most of their time with the children of the Love and Care Orphanage, the Katakyiase Roman Catholic school, our partner churches, the Two Pennies Library, computer lab and piggery.
The applications for both Journeys will be available starting the Saturday, October 12, 2019.
